Whirlwind Weekend

We had a pretty busy weekend.  Friday night was GNO at my house.  Luckily for me, Jarred took the day off to stay home with Jacob so he cleaned the house for me.  We had a great time eating and catching up.  We of course forgot to take a group picture but we did take pictures of Morgan's birthday celebration.  I did not get many cute ones, so here is the best I have.

It is so funny to me because before over half of us got pregnant our girl's nights would last into the wee hours of the next morning and were a little more lively.  Right now they are pretty mellow!  We eat, talk about how miserable we are, how our husbands get on our nerves (it is the hormones) and then we are exhausted by 10.  Everyone was gone by 10:45 and Jarred and Jacob we not home, so I cranked up my mellow music, took and hot bubble bath then went to bed.  It was nice!

Saturday morning, Jarred and his friend painted Jacob's new room.  I of course forgot to take pictures but I will try to do that tonight and post them tomorrow.  Of course, his room is not finished, just finished painting.  I love the way the color turned out.

Since Jacob was at his Nana's house, my sister came up and we went to the pool.  It did not last long though because it decided to rain.  I laid around the rest of the afternoon until I went to get Jacob.  When I picked him up we went to my friend Trina's little boy's birthday.  I forgot my camera so I have no pictures but Jacob had a great time.

Sunday, after church, I went to help with Morgan's baby shower.  She had a great shower and got a lot of cute stuff for Baby Brooks.  Here are a few pictures from the festivities.

After the shower, I got to have my favorite meal for dinner, so it ended my weekend well.  I hope you all had a great weekend!

22 Weeks

I am 22 weeks this week and do not really much to talk about.  I went to the doctor again on Monday because of a little incident on Sunday that has to do with the whole inner ear thing I had going on (I am okay though).  So, Dr. Benton put me on some stronger medicine (which has worked beautifully), listened to the heart beat, measured me and sent me on my way.  I am measuring right at 22 weeks, so everything seems to be good.  She told me just to ride this sinus junk out, that it is hitting early this year and does not seem to be going away.

I am feeling much better, still draining all this junk out but it is just sinuses now, like she said.  Here is my weekly belly picture.

Colyn is getting big in there!  And since I do not have much to say, I thought I would post a picture of little man at the doctor's office last Friday.

He looks so pitiful!  That is his khaki (blanket) that he can not go anywhere without.  I have a little Linus on my hands.  I hope you all have a great weekend.  I have a fun filled, busy weekend ahead, so I will be sure to talk all about it next week.

I Got Nothing...

Because I have been sick I really have nothing to talk about besides laying in bed and well coughing up a lung or my raw nose.  So, I thought I would post a video of Jacob dancing for your amusement and mine.

21 Weeks

I am over the hump now, I will be counting down the weeks till December when Baby Colyn makes his debut.  This has been a rough week, not pregnancy wise just all together.  Being pregnant and sick is not fun at all.  On top of that, Jacob is now sick, well he started getting sick before me but it has gotten worse.

I took him to the doctor this morning and he has an ear infection on his ear drum, not the typical middle ear infection.  He has a blister on his ear drum and the doctor said it is probably very painful (explains the screaming fit the other night).  He gave us an antibiotic and numbing ear drops.  This is our first run in with an ear infection, so this is all new to me.  I am so thankful he has been so healthy his first two years of life, but I know it is coming now that he is in preschool.

While we were there, Jacob's doctor looked at my ears because they are killing me.  Well guess what, I have an ear infection too.  Go figure!  I am on my last day of my Z-pak so maybe that will clear it up.  I think I may steal a few of Jacob's numbing drops.

Anyway, here is my weekly belly picture.

21weeks I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, we will be in the bed!

When You've Had A Bad Day

Might I suggest these for a pick me up...

downsized_0820091327

They sure made my day better, well somewhat anyway.  Oh, and I am not being paid by anyone for anything, they are just my favorite snacks when I am about to break down!  That's all.

The Crud Is My New Friend

So I have been a little under the weather since Friday and it seems to have become my best friend.  I have the crud, you know, sneezing, coughing, feel like my head is going to explode...you get the point!  This is what I have been doing a lot of since Sunday.

IMG00072

Jacob has been taking very good care of his Momma.  He laid with me on the couch all night last night.  I went to the doctor on Monday and she gave me the usual Z-pak, cough medicine, Claritin and told me to ride it out!  Just what I want to here when I am pregnant, as if that is not enough to deal with alone.  I am starting to feel a little better, so let's hope it goes away soon.

We went to Georgia this past weekend for our friend's wedding.  It was beautiful but extremely hot!  We had a great time catching up with friends we do not get to see often.  Here are some pictures of the festivities.

20 Weeks...Half Way There

I am 20 weeks this week and it is just flying by.  I can not believe I am half way through this pregnancy.  Time is creeping up on us because we have not started the first thing.  We want to get Jacob's new room painted first and get him moved in there so we can start working on the walls for the nursery.  Hopefully in the next few weeks we can start all of that.

Nothing major has really gone on this week with the baby.  He does kick me ALL the time now.  I love it though, it is the best feeling in the world.  Here is my belly picture for the week.

20weeks

We are going out of town this weekend for a wedding so I will be sure to post pictures next week of all the festivities.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Preschool Orientation

I apologize in advance for this being sappy.  We went to Jacob's preschool orientation last night and everything went great besides a little crying.  Jacob did not have much of a nap yesterday so he was not very thrilled when we woke him up to get out of the car, nor that we left him with his new teachers while we went to the parent meeting.  Once we got back in the room he was sitting down coloring and acting fine.

I have looked forward to Jacob starting his new school since I signed him up and I have had tons of people ask me, "are you scared at all"?  I always try to play it off and say, " oh he will be fine, he is going to learn so much".  But, truth be known, yes I am scared to death!  Jacob has never stayed with anyone other than our family besides the hour he goes to nursery on Sundays.  I know he will do fine and learn a ton, but it is all really starting to hit me.

I know he is only two and preschool might not be a big deal to some, but to me, I look forward to him learning all new things and interacting with other children.  I can not believe that time is already here.

It literally seems like I was just holding my precious little man on my chest and never wanting to put him down because I wanted to make sure he was still breathing.  Now I am sending him off to stay with strangers all day, four days a week!  I have always felt like I had to put up this front and be tough for my little man because he is a boy.  I never want to get upset in front of him because he does not like me to cry.  But, that front has literally fallen before my eyes.  My child is growing up way too fast, I just want it to slow down a little.

Babies, Chicken and Ice Cream

We had an eventful weekend.  Saturday involved a baby shower, friends, chicken wings and homemade ice cream.  I went to my friend Lindy's baby shower Saturday afternoon.  It was a fun filled shower with great gifts, the best punch ever and friends.  Lindy is having a little boy next month and she got so many fun boy items.

0810 008

These are some of the GNO girls at Lindy's shower.

Saturday night Jarred and I were able to get out with a few of his friends for dinner and dessert.  We started out at Buffalo Wild Wings for our dinner.  I was craving chicken wings and happened to have a coupon for 6 free, so that is why we ended up there.   After dinner, we went back to Chad's house (Jarred's friend).  Since it was just the two of us, Brad and Chad I kicked back in the recliner and went to sleep while the three boys caught up.  While we were there, the boys decided to make homemade ice cream (I know three guys making homemade ice cream makes me laugh a little).  They made Milky Way ice cream and it was delicious!  As soon as I can get the recipe I will post it on here.  It is well worth trying.

Sunday we went to church and did the usual grocery shopping that I always, except this time I made Jarred and Jacob go with me.  We made our  stops and in the process passed by Seafood and Chicken Box.  Let me just tell you, if you have never experienced this place you must go.  They just recently closed their old location and had their grand reopening in Trussville this past weekend.  They have the BEST fried chicken I have ever put in my mouth (can you tell I love chicken).  So, I got Jarred to walk down and order us dinner to go while Jacob and I finished our shopping at Aldi.

It was a great weekend and this is going to be a busy week.  Jacob starts school on Wednesday and I am so excited and nervous.  This will be his first time away from our family besides the hour he is in nursery at church.  He will be going four days a week so hopefully he will get the hang of it quickly.  I hope you all have a great week.

I Was Given A Blog Award

Morgan @ A Buggie Full of Beans gave me an award last week and I am so slow to post it.

 honestscrapaward

Thank you Morgan for thinking of me when you gave this award out.  And, thank you for dragging me into this world of blogging.  I never thought in a million years I would blog.  I love to read blogs but never thought I would ever have anything to write about.  But here I am and I love it!

So this award comes with rules.  I have to give it to 4 other bloggers and I have to post 10 things about myself you may not know.  Now also last week, Valerie @ It's A Wonderful Life tagged me to give 6 things about myself, so I figured I would include it in the same 10.

The 4 people I am going to give this award to are:

  1. Trina @ Fabulously Frugalicious because I love her blog, she is my real life friend and coworker and she is the one that originally introduced me to the blog world three years ago.
  2. Mycalee @ Stults' Shenanigans because she is another real life friend and just started a blog about her wonderful family.
  3. Lynde @ Our Little Lives because she is one of my oldest friends and my college roommate.
  4. Lyndee @  Your Love It Covers Me because she was one of the first people to comment on my blog that I do not actually know, she has a little boy Jacob's age and I love her blog.

Okay, there are my four.  Now, here are 10 things you may or may not know about me (this is really random stuff).

  1. I have scoliosis and had to wear a back brace for two years in middle school.  I never wore it to school because it was too bulky under my clothes, until I almost had to have surgery, then I started wearing it like I was supposed to.  It has since corrected itself for the most part.
  2. I am half blind in my left eye and can not hardly see anything without my contacts or glasses.
  3. I went to four colleges just for my bachelor's degree (you read that right, HA).
  4. I played piano for six years and miss it terribly.  Maybe one day I can pick it back up.
  5. I went to Alaska in high school with my church choir.  It was an amazing experience.
  6. Even though Jarred was my high school sweetheart, I have actually known him since I was 6.  And, his parents and mine went to high school together.
  7. I cracked my tailbone in high school during cheerleading practice and have never been the same.  My back hurts to this day if I sit for long periods of time.
  8. I love, love, love the beach and would live there if Jarred would let me.
  9. I am a little obsessed with houndstooth (you can probably tell though).
  10. I am a softy and cry at the drop of a hat.

Okay, so I guess that is it.  I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend.

Baby D Has A Name

After my doctor's appointment this past Tuesday, Jarred and I decided it was time to give this child a name.  We had several that we liked but wanted to make sure without any doubt that it was a boy before we made it official.  Well, the ultrasound proved for sure that it is definitely a boy!  That boy is not shy at all, he showed us with all his glory.  So after some really stupid names from Jarred (that could not really be a child's name) we came up with...

Colyn Davis

I went through the entire baby name book looking for a boy name that Jarred would like (he is very picky) so Colyn was one of VERY few he liked.  Of course we found it as Colin but I like to spell things different, so I decided on this spelling.  Davis is a family name, my maiden name actually and I had originally wanted to use it as the first name but never could get used to saying it in that sense.

We are very excited about the name and love the way Jacob say Baby Colyn.  He loves to pat and kiss my belly and can not wait for his baby brother to get here.  We showed him the ultrasound last night and he just kept saying, "that's baby Colyn."  It is amazing how much a two year old understands everything that is going on.  Every time he sees a baby on TV he wants to hold it.  Now if we can just work on the sharing his trucks part, HA!  He tells us that he is not going to share his trucks with the baby.

After my appointment Tuesday I meet with the lady that is going to make Colyn's bedding.  Her company is called Beckers.  She is local here in Birmingham and has tons of fabrics to choose from.  I have several friends using her and she does a great job.  My friend Morgan posted a few pictures of her finished bedding today.  I am so excited about the bedding and can not wait to get it and show it off!  I will not have it until November, so I have to wait a while.

I am 19 weeks as of this past Monday and it seems to be flying by!  I feel like I am blowing up like a blimp but I know that it is all just a part of it.  Here is my weekly belly picture.

19weeks

I know this post was all over the place and pretty long but I hope y'all have a great Thursday!

What I Look Forward To Once Month

So I have this group of girls that I have known since high school and for almost two years now we have been trying to get together once a month.  We call it GNO or girl's night out.  It is something we all look forward to.  We do not normally go out.  We take turns having it at each of our houses, where we kick our husbands and kids out. We tend to get pretty rowdy, because you know a group of girls can get loud.

DSC_1435

It has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in my life.  I just enjoy their company and love to hear what is going on in each of their lives.  Several have come and gone over the past two years, but that does not stop us from having a good time together.  I love you girls!!!
