Father's Day

We had a great Father's Day this past Sunday.  We ate way too much but enjoyed all the time spent with our families.  We went to lunch with Jarred's family at Jim 'N Nicks followed by dessert at his parents house.  I of course ate way to much and really wanted to take a nap.

After spending some time over at Nana and Papa's we went to my parent's house.  There we just chilled on the couch for most of the afternoon.  We then proceeded to eat again, this time my favorite, Seafood and Chicken Box.  I absolutely love their chicken!  Jacob spent most of his time playing outside with his Buzz Lightyear sprinkler.  It was time to go when he decided to squirt Colyn and me, we were soaked.

I am so blessed to have a wonderful Daddy, husband and Father-in-law.  They are all wonderful men and mean so much to me.  My Daddy and Jarred's dad are such great grandfathers and love my boys like no tomorrow.  And Jarred, you are a wonderful father.  Jacob looks up to you so much (Colyn will too one day) and wants to do everything that you are doing.  You are his hero.  Colyn loves to hear his Daddy's voice and always looks at you and grins from ear to ear.  I love these moments with our boys and am so thankful to have you in my life and to call you my husband and father of my children.  I love you!

Okay, sorry for getting so sentimental.  I hope everyone has a great weekend, tomorrow is Friday!

Busy Summer

I guess it is about time for me to update this here blog.  Since I last posted I have been to a birthday party for Jacob's girlfriend, a play with some of my best friends, Atlanta to see two of my other best friends, the beach for my oldest friends bachelorette party and girl's night out with some of those same friends.  Not to mention working and being a mother and wife.  It has been a busy few weeks.

I love summer but it is non stop.  There is always something going on.  I guess the older my boys get the more there will be to do.   I know it is only going to get busier as the years go by.  It is so nice to take time to spend with friends though, so we can all unwind and relax every now and then.  I think every mother needs this!  Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks.

Afternoon Conversation

The following is a conversation I had with Jacob yesterday afternoon.

Jacob:  "Why are the trees and bushes in the road?"

Me:  "They're beside the road buddy."

Jacob: "Why?"

Me:  "Well, that is where God put them."

Jacob:  "God?"

Me:  "You know, Jesus' daddy."

Jacob:  "How can we see God?"

Me:  "You'll see him when you go to Heaven."

Jacob:  "I want to go to Heaven and eat cake!"

Me:  "Okay buddy, when you go to Heaven one day I'm sure you can have lots of cake."

Saying Goodbye

Last Thursday was Jacob and Colyn's last day at their first school.  I was so sad to leave but needed to put the boys somewhere more flexible with mine and Jarred's schedules.  It was bitter sweet because this was the first place I have ever left my babies.  My grandmother kept Jacob until he was 2 so I never had to worry about him.

It is hard to trust strangers with your babies and leave them all day long to basically spend more time with them then you get to because you have to work full time.  The ladies that my boys had for teachers are so special to me.  They made me feel so comfortable and I knew I was leaving them in good hands.

Colyn was an itty bitty baby when I left him and they loved on him and cuddled him like he was their own.  And Jacob, he has learned so much this year.  Those ladies taught him so much that I am truly amazed at that little boy.

God gave these women such a special gift.  It takes a very special person to teach young children.  They each have a place in my heart!  We will miss you Ms. Sandy, Ms. Terri (aka Ms. Cherri), Ms. Donna and Ms. Renee.

Here are a few pictures from Jacob's end of the year party.

The boys started their new school on Tuesday and everything is going great.  I know we will love it just as much but we truly do miss the people and sweet friends that Jacob made.

Long Weekend

We enjoyed are long weekend with a lot of eating and fun with friends.  Saturday was my birthday, which was pretty low key.  My friend Morgan and I got pedicures and then I spent the day being lazy.  After my lazy day, we got the boys from their Nana's house and went to my parent's house to cookout and have birthday cake.

Sunday we went to the lake with Morgan and Amy.  Although it did nothing but storm all day, we had a great time.  Hopefully next time we go it will be sunny and we will actually get to go out to the lake, ha!  I was very impressed that Jacob and Emma did not go stir crazy being stuck inside all day.

Monday morning we woke up to a nice surprise in our yard.

Jarred and I were both freaking out.  I got a new lens for my camera for my birthday and of course did not have it on my camera, so by the time I got it on there they were gone.  This is as good as I could get.  There were actually three deer in the yard but one had already ran back into the woods.  They were literally 5 feet from our deck when we first saw them.  Jarred is a hunter so he loved this!

After our excitement of the morning, we hung around the house for a while then decided to go back to my parent's house for dinner.  My dad loves to grill so he asked if we wanted to come eat smoked ribs and chicken, so of course we did not pass that up.

We had a great, low key weekend and can not wait to do it again soon!  I hope you all had a great Memorial Day.

5 Months Old

IMG_5292

Colyn, you are 5 months old (last Friday).  Time, please slow down!  It blows my mind how fast these past 5 months have gone by.

  • You are loving baby food!  We have tried all the orange veggies and are almost through the fruits.  You love bananas and applesauce.
  • You broke out when we fed you peaches, so no more peaches!
  • You still love oatmeal and your bottle.  You like to have 5-6 oz. every 3 hours.  You act like you are starving to death every three hours, but I know you are just my little piggy.
  • You are wearing size 3 diapers now.
  • You are trying to sit up and love to bounce when someone is holding you on your feet.
  • You can move yourself around on your back but no crawling yet on your belly.
  • You babble all the time and still love to watch your brother's every move.
  • You are sleeping so good in your co-sleeper, but next month you get the big move.
  • You had your first ear infection, which was no fun.  We got you on antibiotics and when we took brother to the doctor last week he looked at your ears and said they looked great.

We love you more and more everyday little man!
